The Unofficial E30 Eta Page

My Story

In early 1998, I missed a winter camping weekend to recover from the flu.  Browsing through the local classifieds section, I found the following ad:

BMW 1985 325e Cruise con-
trol, am/fm cass, sunrf,
artisa blue, nice looking
car! $4500 Call 548-xxxx

Ever since touring BMW's Dingolfing plant in Germany, I'd been looking for an E30.  Because they are newer, the 325 "i" models are more expensive than the "e" models.  As a college student, affordability was a significant factor in my search for a car.  Thus, I had been searching for a 325, 325e, or 325es.

I went and looked at the car that day.  It had 165,000 miles on it, but was in beautiful condition.  On Monday, a mechanic looked at it, pronounced it in sound condition, and said that if he had the money, he would buy the car.

So, on February 10, 1998, I became the privileged owner of one of the finest automobiles ever made.  This page is dedicated exclusively to E30s with the Eta engine (325, 325e, 325es).  Though the car has since been sold, I will continue to maintain this page and respond when possible to e-mail questions.

Since acquiring my Bimmer, I've put about 35,000 miles on it.  It's served me very well, and seen me through several cross-continent jaunts and two driver's schools.  Driver's schools, run through your local BMW CCA chapter, are the most important upgrade you could ever get for your car: a better driver!  They're cheap, and you'll learn more about yourself and your car than you would ever be able to on the street.
